okay so

i was getting drunk with a bunch of nerdfriends on friday, right

and one nerdfriend, who knows of my present hopeless dragon age obsession, mentioned in passing how she "did the satanic sex ritual with morrigan" in origins

i thought she was just kind of drunk and exaggerating things but

then i looked it up out of curiosity (because, even though i'm only halfway through the game, i'm not really working THAT hard to avoid spoilers)

and omg what

it's an actual "one of your beloved characters must die... UNLESS someone impregnates the witch in some wacky dark magic ritual" thing

like, normally plot devices that exist just to avoid a hard sacrifice / save a beloved character's ass really piss me off, but

this one is so offbeat and wacky and wtf that i don't even care, it's just lulz

also apparently you can make alistair do the ritual instead which is

horrible. and that is absolutely what i'm going to do when i get there :P

Yes that is an actual thing and it's got follow-up in DA3. Isn't it great?!

DAO just had so many parts in it that were magical like that, where you had some Perfect Third Option To Avoid The Hard Choices but they come with some element of risk or worldbuilding awesome.

So yeah, you can spawn the antichrist. :D

Yeah, that's uhhhh, what I decided on: making Alistair do it instead.

Because I like making life hard for him.
