oh INTERESTING! that level of black joke could definitely get very tiring, if the plot didn't roar... i think i've also only read the necklace. which i don't remember at all. did it have a snake? am i thinking of something else?
(quick look and wiki and EB have "maupassant" btw.) i also wasn't familiar with the term "blackpilled," but it seems very helpful for a certain kind of approach and or outlook lol
