I very briefly took lessons again as an adult and had the same experience with motivation. I was so used to kid-centered lessons where the teacher has to tell you what you need, and I wasn't prepared to share what I need/want. Maybe that's why I didn't jive with it; teacher was unskilled with adults and I had no concrete goals.
But I love following your journey. My husband actually sent me the music for "Alicia" recently (he played the game a little; really digs the music) but I haven't tried it yet. It doesn't look technically complicated, but I know the fingerings will be something to iron out. (If you don't have the music yet, I can send it to you!) I just really love piano and I regret I haven't touched it in so long.
