My favorites of Temeraire were books 4 and 5, and I felt that the series went downhill from book 6 onwards, but it may also be that that's when I switched from audiobooks to reading text. The Scholomance trilogy is probably my favorite of Novik's books, and you might well enjoy it also :-)
