Honestly my overall reaction was "....wow, damn, I turned out remarkably okay for that having been my K-8." I mean obviously I'm not perfect, but lol. I genuinely had multiple parents of other kids at the school having Concerned Conversations with my mother because I was drawing dragons and runes in art class, and they were genuinely worried that I was going to turn out a Satanist. (I have no beef with the Satanic Temple, those folks are doing necessary work and I support, but I myself went the Pagan route. which for those parents is probably indistinguishable.) I had a friend whose parents would drive her to an event, let's say ice skating on Friday night free skate, and would pay their entry to the rink to sit in the bleachers and watch to make sure she didn't go near any boys. ....Every day I am grateful my parents were not that.
