I'm glad you liked Broken Harbor! AKA "Kennedy's 400 Page-Long Breakdown" lol. I never thought I'd like a character like that (a male character, anyway. F!Kennedys in fiction are as rare as they are delightful), but watching him try to cram this case and his crumbling psyche into a neat predictable box was highly entertaining. I enjoyed the scenes with his sister for the most part, and I thought they added a really interesting dimension to his character, but god damn it made me uncomfortable. Which was maybe the point?

As for In the Woods... yeah. I got into the series because a friend thought I'd love The Likeness, and she was like "yeah maybe best to read them in order." So I did. I don't remember hating the prose or the pacing, though I can totally see how bb!author Tana French could get obnoxious with both of those things. But Rob. Fucking Rob. You actually stopped before he gets truly insufferable lol. As soon as he and Cassie hook up, it's all downhill. And the ending (if you can even call it that) pissed me off so bad lmao. I usually like, or can at least appreciate, an ambiguous ending, but IMO it did NOT work here.

That said, I hope The Likeness works for you! (And yes, there's plenty of Frank :D ) I've actually been rereading it and it's just as fun the second time around.
