omg Tana French is one of my favorite authors and Faithful Place is my favorite of her books! I'm so glad you liked it! Frank shows up as a side character in the preceding book (The Likeness, which is a very close second favorite to Faithful Place), and when I saw he was POV in this one I was like oh boy I'm gonna hate this lol. But no, that bloody Francis Mackey just had to worm his way into my heart. And now I'm feeling like I need a reread soon!
The mystery, in terms of whodunnit, did not feel all that mysterious to me, but that's beside the point anyway.
lmao yes that really is this series in a nutshell. Whenever I recommend it to people I'm like, "Well, technically they're murder mysteries, but that's not actually the important or even really the most interesting part!" And then I gush about character studies and lush prose and probably turn them off completely lol.
