Maybe people just got mad that it got published instead of staying on LJ forever? --> I suspect that's a lot of it, or like, more specifically, folks somehow stumbling on this outside the confines of a "hi this is an erotica subgenre, you are very specifically here because you're interested in reading this specific sort of thing" space. Like, I'm still not sure where I got the idea this was YA at all, but if I were a different sort of person, that expectation mismatch would have been pretty jarring! (as opposed to my more "hm, did I get the genre right? oh, I see, got it, it's a different thing" thing)
