...I might have to take a look at Six of Crows too, damn. I've mostly heard it spoken of by people whose opinions I take as anti-recommendations up til now, but it's just possible they got this one right.
Re: business books, I was a super awkward kid, and when my Aggressively Social stepmother arrived on the scene, she decided to correct this by inundating me with just such literature and making me write reports on them. Having poor communication skills, I was kinda the target audience, but also I was eleven, so like... Not really. But anyway, I can confirm that they're largely useless even for people who need help with social shit. The only thing I learned was to be instantly suspicious of people who say my name too often, because Using People's Names Is How You Sell Them Things.
