I -almost- felt personally called out for that Le Guin comment* (read one....-think it was Wizard of Earthsea - didn't get the hullaboo... /ducks from incoming flying books) but then at least Name of the Wind mention made me breathe a sign of relief as I wouldn't inflict that on anyone voluntarily. :P (NotW, as an aside, feels Twilight-esque in that ... it feels like something that -goes- down fast if you just want a brainless beach read, but leaves a hell of a bad aftertaste if you expected more, imo.)
*your own comment actually makes perfect sense about why it wasn't grokking; evenhanding worldbuilding takes a major backseat to bull-in-a-china-shop characters, for this one here. :P interestingly I've read a few of her letters and -those- were super engrossing so if there's a biography or a 'on writing' book about her, may have to go for that next.
