You can still use frames. I have had to deal with them in a professional context. (Not for much longer, but.)
Also fuck yes KILL THE FUCKING GIFS. I love Smart Bitches Trashy Books for this - there are four reviewers but while they will occasionally throw in a gif for emphasis, it's mostly words, and I LOVE it.
