heh. you can read it yourself if you're curious, it has the advantage of being very short & available on project gutenberg :P imho, the bit i just described is the only interesting aspect *to* the piece. the story itself is mostly Grim Serious Author Fantasizes Madly About Prepubescent Boy, which, even if you're willing to put aside the squickiness of the topic (which I was, but others very reasonably find hard to get past), it's just kind of pompous and overblown in how it's told. probably the author's style just plain not being to my taste was the biggest issue, actually; i could imagine another author telling basically the exact same story, with the same themes, and my finding it much more interesting.
