heh, re: the GRRM kills all your faves thing: the meme's so well-circulated at this point that I'm just in this state where I generally assume people are going to die out of the blue, and yeah, it does kill quite a bit of the suspense. "oh, this guy seems to be doing pretty well. that'll probably end in pain and sorrow... and, yup, there it is"
