Hey remember how I was bitching about difficulty earlier? Turns out actually using the pair up mechanic is both excellent and possibly broken. Aw yiss. I played like eleven chapters without using it at all and wow that made my life harder than it needed to be. (also ammie's protip of spamming rallies is accurate holy shit that nonsense is broken)

Was alarmed and disappointed to find out that Cordelia can't marry Chrom. Seriously you give her this giant honking crush that comes up in conversation during Lon'qu's marriage proposal to her and you don't even give her a chance of ending up with the lord? Cruel stuff, man.

Also CAN WE ALL APPRECIATE THAT GRIFFON KNIGHTS ARE A THING oh my god I've wanted one of those since literally the first FE I ever played and they are everything I dreamed of

Recruiting Severa was a goddamn pain in the ass. She kept running headlong into seas of silver-weapon-users when she was some runty level 10 mercenary; I ended up having to literally blockade her so she couldn't move forward and thus couldn't get her stupid ass killed. ahgielahglieahg escort missions are the worst possible thing man

so while a lot of the parent/child supports are cute and sweet and whatever, I feel like there need to be more supports that acknowledge the incredible strangeness of your kid showing up full-grown before you've even had them in the first place. like, if my child from the future came back to chat I'd be like "WHOA WTF I HAD CHILDREN back the fuck up. are you a felon? well I just asked because I'm pretty sure I'd be a shitty parent... uh. i guess here's where i'd say let's get to know each other over a beer but are you even old enough to drink yet, actually fuck it I'm gonna need shots to deal with this"

similarly, both the map for recruiting Panne's kid and Panne's recruitment dialogue were lulz. "here's two random armies! wanna help one—oh god no are we seriously going to fight them both" FUCK YEAH WE ARE

Lucina is so pretty aah. She's my favorite character so far, by a pretty wide margin—influenced partially by the fact that she is a fucking tank on the battlefield, but also she just has a nice overall aura to me—serious/stern, sometimes to a fault, but not overdone, a rather sweet father/daughter dynamic with Chrom, a sort of underlying desperation that's highlighted by the brief horrific flashbacks to shitty-future, etc. Her supports with Morgan (assuming Morgan is a sibling) were really quite sweet. (Also her supports re: awful tacky fabulous fashion with mom—where the hell did that come from I mean I laughed hard but whaaat.)
