expect various catch-up book posts & random comments & such soon! i probably won't be able to backread everything but, hey, how's it hanging, summer's been great, hope y'all are well, anyone seen any cool birds lately...?
Not the coolest bird but a very cool bird: there were some crows hanging out after work the other day being very silly. TBH any day seeing a bird after work is a good day.
They're terrifying! I was at the beach the other day and had to do a complicated hop on and off the boardwalk [which included throwing myself bodily over a low stone wall] in order to avoid one that didn't know where it was going. And then I told it, "you're a dick," and my friend (who I didn't know was there!) burst out laughing.
The local giant mob of fish crows decided this year's hangout spot is Roy Rogers. On the one hand, since they're not all sitting on my roof all the time I have had no Personal Interactions with Crow Neighbors this year, which is a bit of a letdown. On the other hand, their absence means smaller songbirds in the area have come out of hiding. So many house finches! So many catbirds! Various cute little guys!
Welcome back! I saw cute but not unusual birds when I went to Door County last week; summer continues to summer; brains are miserable and terrible; in other news water is wet.
oh have I ever! a few days ago I was sunbathing and spotted some birds that don't seem to be the usual ruddy ground doves or chickadees -- so, on the best of hopes that the pics I took aren't absolute complete illegible ass, I can't wait to make you identify those-
Yaaay welcome back~! There is a family of magpies in my neighborhood that bounce between a handful of blocks every morning causing chaos. Despite appearing full grown, the fledglings still keep begging their parents for food and it's hilarious.
remember, no matter how summer the summer: fall migration is inevitable and it brings cool temperatures + bomb-ass migrants + hopefully fewer migraines et al!!!
