i have a half-written draft sitting on my computer now, actually, with some impressions of early Christian theology—even though i find modern protestant theology mostly-viscerally-horrifying, i wish i'd been exposed to some of the early Christian writing in context, and also various Jesuit scholars, way earlier in my life—when it's discussed as a Great Conversation rather than a Set Of Rules, the stuff at hand is often fascinating.

The Color of Law reiterates a lot of the themes from that Atlantic piece, but these days, for whatever reason, i find it way easier to focus on a book than on longform journalism, so it grabbed me more, haha
