'your cross to bear' is a line that popped in my head re the first topic - even with how perverted some circles have become, early disciples-era christianity had some interesting things to say about morality.
that whole thread about ownership resonates deeply - always have tried to maintain that ideal so it's interesting to see it spelled out so literally and clearly in a thread. (i wonder if people who arrive at that conclusion have a larger proportion/chance of being indoctrinated early and having their early worldview shattered? and having to come to grips with *being* the enemy and conversely *not being that*, so to speak?
(this is like, a hideous case of tooting my own horn but yolo - this whole philosophical axis is what IC is based on - when you are very literally the spawn of unforgivable sins (a dictator's daughter) and systems (a sentient WMD that's actively generationaly abused), how do and your conscience come to grips with that legacy? what the hell can you even begin to do to repair it?)
basically the long way of me thanking you for the link to that essay ~ danke for good bedtime reads~
I'll have to get that Color of Law book - one of the few first bits of media that made me realize how deep the systematic racism goes was a magnificent article way back in the heyday of the Atlantic (when it was actually decent / shot) that spelled out housing prices/white flight/etc and made that undeniable link. seconding what etirabys said there, too.
