I can totally feel all that--my disillusionment with open world y western RPGs was largely "this has turned into me ignoring the world and driving myself to the quest marker on the mini-map while being annoyed at bears and cliffs in the way." And Skyrim always looked really gray to me, like perpetually staring at a world that's overcast like winter. Maybe I would like Breath of the Wild!
